Pro is monthly; there is no annual option
Pro is billed monthly. OpenAI's Pro documentation says annual billing and prepayment for multiple months are not available, so twelve months of payments should not be described as an annual plan.
For budgeting only, multiply the monthly price by 12: $1,200 for Pro 100, $2,400 for Pro 200, and $6,000 for Pro 500. These are budget totals, not annual billing, and they exclude taxes and payment-channel charges.

Allowances are not one fixed message count
OpenAI does not describe every Pro allowance as one fixed message count that applies to every model and feature. The model, context length, reasoning, tool use, information retrieval, caching, and speed mode can change how much included usage a task consumes. When a model reaches its allowance, it may be temporarily unavailable and ChatGPT may show a reset time.
Speed modes can also consume included usage at different rates. OpenAI says Fast mode uses 2.5 times the Standard rate, while Ultrafast for GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol uses 8 times the Standard rate. These are allowance consumption rates, not promises about response speed or quality.

Ultrafast is included only with Pro 500
Among the three Pro tiers, Ultrafast is included only with Pro 500. For GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol, OpenAI says Ultrafast first uses the tier's included usage; if the account can purchase credits, additional usage is charged at six times the Standard credit rate.
Buying credits on Pro 100 or Pro 200 does not unlock Ultrafast. Pro 500 is worth considering for this reason only when you actually need the mode and the highest included usage; it should not be read as a promise that every task will be proportionally faster.

The Pro 200 allowance transition in October 2026
Pro 200 remains $200/month, but the included allowance can differ by account. New subscribers use the updated lower allowance. Eligible existing Pro 200 subscribers can keep the previous allowance through October 29, 2026, while the subscription remains active.
The eligibility window is an active Pro 200 subscription at any point from September 22, 2026 through 10 a.m. Pacific Time on September 29, 2026. After October 29, affected accounts move to the lower included allowance and keep the $200 monthly price. Keeping the previous allowance also does not add Pro 500's Ultrafast feature.
If an account had Pro 200 during the eligibility window, OpenAI says the transition can still apply after cancelling and subscribing again. Check the account notice and current subscription state before relying on that condition.
